Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Islamic Republic of Iran

Ambassador Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury joined the Embassy of Bangladesh in Tehran on 08 May 2023.

Prior to becoming Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury served Ambassador of Bangladesh to Myanmar from March 2018 to April 2023.

He served as the Director General of South East Asia Wing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh from August 2015 to February 2018.

He had been the Consul General of Bangladesh in Istanbul, Turkey from December 2012 to July 2015.

A career Foreign Service Officer, Mr. Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury served at the Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei Darussalam, Bangladesh Embassy in Rome, Italy and Bangladesh High Commission in London, United Kingdom at different capacities.

He also servedint the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Dhaka as Director (Europe and EU wing) and as Assistant Secretary in different wings.  

Ambassador Chowdhury holds BSc Engineering degree from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, and Master dgree in Geopolitics and Global Security degree from the University La Sapienza, Rome, Italy. He also studied Italian language and Culture at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia, Italy and participated in the course on International Law at the University La Sapienza, Rome, Italy. He did Chevening Fellowship on Peacekeeping and International Capacity Building at the University of Bradford, UK.

During his professional career, Ambassador Chowdhury participated in many professional training courses, seminars and conferences.

He is married to Farzana Nasrin, and they have two children.
